We are excited to announce openings for positions on the Research committee, the Education & Training committee, and the Guidelines committee. These roles are crucial for driving innovation, fostering learning, and amplifying the voices of our (younger) members within our organisation.

Please note:
- Only paid up EAES active members are eligible to submit their candidacy;
- You can only apply for ONE committee/ task force;
- You are not allowed to apply if you have been a member of one of the EAES committees/ task forces in the last 2 years.
Submitting your candidacy:
Applicants may be invited for an interview via one of the available electronic communication channels and/or to submit additional documents if required.
All EAES members who meet the criteria, are invited to submit their candidacy for membership in one of the EAES committees.
Term of Office
Following our bylaws each committee or task force member will serve a 2-year term and is eligible for re-election for another 2-year term. Your presence will be requested twice a year for the committee meetings during the Symposium on Innovation in Surgery and the annual congress. Hotel and travel expenses will be (partially) covered by EAES.

Being an EAES member is a matter of integration and interaction. Integration because the society is open to surgeons from all over Europe with no real geographical, specialization or expertise barrier.

Research committee
The EAES Research committee is looking for new members!
The Mission of the Research Committee within EAES is to promote and disseminate the highest quality clinical research in the field of endoscopic and minimally invasive surgery amongst the surgical scientific community, with a special focus on young surgeon, to improve patient outcomes and clinical training.

Education & Training committee
The mission of the EAES Education & Training committee focusses on providing learning mobility opportunities (fellowships and clinical visits), hands-on training activities (pre-congress, and endorsed courses), E-learning modalities (e.g. EAES manual, master classes) and career development possibilities (such as CME accredited tests, UEMS diploma in MIS).

Guidelines committee
The EAES Guidelines committee aims to develop evidence-informed, trustworthy, transparent clinical practice guidelines of highest methodological standards. Regular meetings take place during the EAES Winter Meeting and the EAES Annual Congress. The Committee develops an average of 2 guidelines per year. One in-person guideline consensus meeting takes place for the development of each guideline.
The Guidelines committee has 2 positions available: Systematic Review Lead and Associate Systematic Reviewer
Eligibility criteria Systematic Review Lead:
- are specialists or trainees in a surgical discipline
- have substantial research experience
- are proficient in the use of RoB-2 and ROBINS-I
- are acquainted with the GRADE methodology for appraisal of the certainty of evidence and guideline development
- have excellent communication and organizational skills
- have good command of spoken and written English
- are able to travel at least 3 times a year to participate in the activities of the Committee.
Responsibilities and duties Systematic Review Lead:
- Coordinate 2 systematic reviewers with variable knowledge on systematic review methods to complete one or more systematic reviews per guideline project.
- Monitor execution of the duties of the systematic reviewers, including systematic evidence search, screening, data extraction, and risk of bias assessment; and motivate the completion of their duties.
- Cross check the work of the systematic reviewers, including the systematic evidence search, screening, data extraction, and risk of bias assessment.
- Represent the systematic review team to the steering group, the panel, the statisticians’ group, and the external advisors.
- Participate in at least one guideline project per academic year.
- Participate in both meetings of the Committee and in at least one guideline consensus meeting.
- Participate in research projects of the Committee.
Applicants who are Level 1 certified (as guideline panel members by the INGUIDE program of the McMaster University and the Guidelines International Network) will be prioritized.
Previous participation in guideline development projects is desired.
Eligibility criteria Associate Systematic Reviewer:
- are trainees in a surgical discipline
- have substantial research experience
- are proficient in the use of RoB-2 and ROBINS-I
- are acquainted with the GRADE methodology for appraisal of the certainty of evidence and guideline development
- have excellent communication and organizational skills
- have good command of spoken and written English
- are able to travel 1-2 times a year to participate in the activities of the Committee.
Responsibilities and duties Associate Systematic Reviewer:
- Work under the auspice and guidance of the systematic review lead and collaborate with the guideline chairs, the methodologist, the guideline panel and the statisticians, to support systematic reviews for the development of guidelines.
- Perform systematic evidence search, screening, data extraction, and risk of bias assessment.
- Participate in at least one guideline project per academic year.
- Participate in consensus meetings for guideline projects they have assisted with.
