“EXCELLENCE THROUGH MARGINAL GAINS”
In collaboration with the association of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland (ALSGBI)
It is a great pleasure to welcome you at the 26th European Association of Endoscopic Surgery (EAES) meeting in London that is organized in collaboration with the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland (ALSGBI). Other participating societies are the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), the Japanese society (JSES), the Korean society (KSEL) and the Taiwanese society (TAES).
The venue of the 26th International congress of the EAES will be ExCel London, UK. We have never managed to organize a congress on walking distance from the airport. Please take into account that the best way to fly in is to London city airport.
The theme of the 2018 EAES meeting is ‘Excellence through marginal gains’. Now that every surgical resident throughout the world learns how to perform a cholecystectomy and appendectomy in a laparoscopic fashion, the added value of this EAES meeting is to further improve your endoscopic skills and to improve your training programs by marginal gains.
The opening ceremony will be on Wednesday 30th of May followed by a Welcome reception in the Exhibition Hall.
During the EAES meeting you can learn about new technologies, meet the experts and have lunch with them, participate in the hands on courses and learn about the latest developments which will be streamlined as usual in the core program in subspecialties: colorectal, bariatric, upper gastro-intestinal surgery, hernia, hepato-biliary, endocrine and emergency surgery. Almost 200 experts from all over the world will form the 2018 faculty. We have received over 1000 abstracts and more than 300 videos and we have selected the very best for presentation during the meeting.
The latest technological developments will be discussed during the
Technology Symposium that will be held before the main meeting on Wednesday. During this Symposium surgeons, engineers and young entrepreneurs will discuss future technologies in surgery. Also many very interesting hands on courses will be offered to you on Wednesday. Only the flexible endoscopy course will be organized on Saturday.
In the exhibition area you will have the opportunity to see all the new tools and, beside the big industries that have so far shaped the landscape of our Operating Rooms, you will also find a corner dedicated to the start-ups and new entry companies with new ideas for the future of minimal access surgery.
Enjoy with us this EAES Congress that will be “the Meeting” for minimal access surgeons all over the world in 2018 and have a nice stay in London.
Nicole D. Bouvy
Chair EAES Program Committee
On behalf of the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland, I would like to welcome all delegates and faculty of the 26th International congress of the EAES to London.
We are excited and honoured to be hosting this prestigious meeting in the UK and welcome our friends from the rest of Europe and beyond to what I hope will be an extremely enjoyable and educational few days here.
The EAES meeting has always showcased the latest surgical technologies and this meeting is no different. Our own Society has recently expanded its remit to incorporate Robotics and Technology Enhanced Surgery, and these two areas in particular are widely represented on the Scientific Programme. I have no doubt that the industry exhibition will also reflect the latest in surgical technology.
The extensive scientific programme ensures that there is something for everyone, whether your interests lie in subspecialty updates, surgical tips and tricks, technological advances, surgical systems, teaching or scientific presentations.
Enjoy the meeting, enjoy London and enjoy networking with friends and colleagues, old and new.
Please accept my best wishes for a memorable and productive stay in London.
