Advanced laparoscopic training on cadavers – a new initiative at the Malta Winter Meeting
Cadaver Course
Positioned on either side of the Symposium on Innovation in Surgery, will be training on cadavers in laparoscopic upper and lower GI surgery. Two delegates at each station will work with experienced faculty from the EAES committees performing procedures under supervision.
In order to fully utilise and maximally benefit from this opportunity delegates will require to have existing laparoscopic skills and eg be able to perform cholecystectomy and appendectomy independently.
Procedures performed will be agreed with the faculty at the start of the day and planned according to experience. A webinar session with faculty and delegates is planned in advance of the course date to maximise efficient use of the time available. The upper GI day will focus on fundoplication. The lower GI day will focus on right hemicolectomy and high anterior resection. For suitably advanced candidates in lower GI options include TME CME and intracorporeal anastomosis.
