A Review
The Technology Committee was busy with several activities in the past few months. After an extremely successful postgraduate course and the novel, forward looking hands-on course in flexible endoscopy (http://congress.eaes.eu/Scientific-Program/Hands-on-courses.aspx) in the Amsterdam congress the Committee went on with organizing the Technology Wintermeeting, a condensed symposium on technology issues organized every winter during the EAES Board and Committee meetings.
This year we decided to discuss the penetration of artificial intelligence to the operating room. The symposium directors, Antonello Forgione (Italy), Andreas Melzer (Germany), and Yoav Mintz (Israel), have managed to bring to us top-thought leaders on the subject, including speakers from IBM Watson health project, an expert in machine learning and vision and the leader of O.R Net project (see below program). We have learned where are we now and the future of the smart O.R. The discussion was outstanding!
The committee is now getting ready for the next Frankfurt congress. In addition to the Flexible Endoscopy course we will offer a hands on course in Ultrasound for surgeons, and our contribution to the post-graduate course, and the traditional Amazing Technologies afternoon and the start-up area in the congress exhibition.
