The European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) offers two distinct Fellowship Examinations in Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS): the standard MIS exam and the Robotic Assisted Surgery (RAS) exam. Both are conducted in collaboration with the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES) and lead to the title of Fellow of the European Board of Surgery (F.E.B.S.) upon successful completion.
Robotic Assisted Surgery (RAS) Examination
Application deadline: 15th January 2026
The RAS examination focuses on skills specific to robotic-assisted surgical procedures. The application deadline for the 2025 exam is February 28, 2025. The examination schedule mirrors that of the MIS exam:

Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) Examination
The MIS examination evaluates a candidate’s proficiency in minimally invasive surgical techniques. The application deadline for the 2025 exam is January 15, 2026. The examination process comprises:

Candidates who excel may be eligible for the Top Class Award, which includes a €750 grant for participation in the 33rd EAES Congress 2025. Eligibility criteria include EAES membership at the time of application, congress registration, and being under 40 years old.
