The idea behind organizing this bootcamp stems from a deep belief, that the EAES Research committee has, in the vital role that surgical societies play in inspiring and guiding surgeons to pursue academic and scientific careers.
Surgical research is our passion. Producing high-quality research is challenging, and in our field, it can be even more demanding. We have all experienced the frustration of rejections, endless revisions, and the time lost navigating the complex world of scientific publishing. To overcome these challenges, a solid foundation in research methodology—paired with discipline and strategic guidance—is essential.
Just like in surgical practice, we believe that coaching and mentorship are crucial—even for experienced researchers. Adult learning principles show that spaced repetition, timely feedback, repeated assessments, and gap analysis are key to effective skill development. These same principles are at the core of our approach.
The EAES Research Bootcamp is built on a strong foundation of Collaboration and Mentorship, offering:
- Personalized coaching tailored to your experience level and research goals
- A structured, stepwise and scalable curriculum adaptable to beginners and seasoned researchers alike
- Access to a supportive peer community and expert mentors
- A series of “Research Pills”—brief, high-impact interviews with some of the most respected researchers in the surgical field, sharing insights, advice, and lessons learned from their own journeys
- The opportunity to turn your curiosity and ideas into high-quality publications
Whether you’re a young researcher aspiring to an academic career or an experienced surgeon looking to refresh and deepen your research skills, this programme is designed to support your development—without age or training level restrictions.
The bootcamp runs hand-in-hand with the EAES Research Sandpit and EAES Research Grant.
Join us and take your research capabilities to the next level.
